III Bridges Foundation

As part of the 1848 Community, The III Bridges Foundation was created for the purpose of providing housing and services to create a bridge to independence for three specific communities:

• high functioning autistic young adults (INSPIRE)
• abuse victims and single mothers (HAVEN)
• children removed from their homes by CPS (REFUGE)

INSPIRE
INtegrating Specially-gifted People Into Real work and life Environments
INSPIRE is a housing community designed to give high functioning young adults with autism life skills, assistance in being gainfully employed, and other support needed to lead independent lives.

• "Assisted Living" community/housing with "House Parents" who live on-site
• Life skills training
• Partnerships with medical and mental health professionals
• Partnerships with companies and organizations to provide employment
• Volunteers to act as "mentors" and "mediators" to assist and facilitate effective communication with prospective employers

HAVEN
Helping Abuse Victims by Enabling New beginnings
HAVEN is a housing community designed to assist young adults and single mothers who have been victims of abuse by giving them life skills, help in being gainfully employed, and other support needed to lead them toward independent living.

• Individual housing units, with a shared common area for building community
• "Sliding-scale" rent structure based on occupants' income
• Playground and activity areas
• On-site job and life-skills training
• Counseling services

REFUGE
Reassuring Environment For Underaged Guests needing Emergency shelter
REFUGE is a temporary housing community designed to be a safe and welcoming place for children removed from their homes by Child Protective Services until they can either be placed in foster care or are returned to a responsible family member.

• Trained and Certified Volunteers serve as temporary "House Parents"
• Bedrooms and suites designed to keep siblings together
• On-site counseling services
• Playground and activity areas
